Award V:

IMPLICATIONS OF RESEARCH OR EDUCATION PRACTICE

Award Overview

Manuscripts submitted for this award should identify a persistent and recurring problem in the practice of science teacher education. The manuscript should clearly articulate a philosophical point or position to resolve the problem based upon a comprehensive synthesis of relevant research that interprets theoretical and empirical research for practice. Alternatively, the manuscript may discuss a research study and its implications for science teaching and learning.  Papers in this category would be suitable for the ASTE journal, Journal of Science Teacher Education.

Awardees of Award V will receive a cash award of $500 sponsored by Carolina Biological Supply Company and a tribute in the awards issue of the ASTE Newsletter. Awardees of the Award V – Graduate Student level will receive conference registration for the conference year in which the award is presented; this award will only be granted to the first author.

Manuscripts will be judged on the problem, rationale, literature review, research synthesis or methodology, implications, and quality of writing.
